Hindu-themed Birthday Party

Hi Everyone,
I completed an order today that I wanted to share because it was the first time someone requested a hindu-themed cake, cupcakes and assorted sweets. I was very excited when my friend Libby contacted me because she was planning a birthday party for her mom who was turning 65.

Libby said the party was going to be held at Traditions in Tustin and wanted something to go with the theme of the venue. I hear that place has excellent Indian Food. I'm going to have to go there someday...

Libby sent me some pictures to give me some ideas of what she was looking for. The color scheme was bright pink, purple, green, orange and gold as the accent. Absolutely loved it! What I love about my clients is that they pretty much give me free reign with the design. They trust my judgment and I am very appreciative of that. So Libby decided to go with a cupcake tower consisting of 4 dozen cupcakes. vanilla and chocolate. Nothing wrong with traditional flavors. :) I knew I was going to make custom fondant toppers for the cupcakes. I decided I was going to pipe hindu designs on the fondant circles with royal icing and then paint them with edible gold paint.

A couple weeks later, Libby contacted me and said she wanted to add a cake for her mom that we could put on the cupcake stand. She decided to go with white chocolate macadamia nut and I told her I would match the cupcakes.

Then I guess Libby kept seeing pictures of the dessert tables that I've done and decided to add some chocolate dipped pretzels, sugar cookies, chocolate covered oreos, and strawberry flavored cake pops. Woo Hoo! I was so excited to make them and use the colors of the party.

For the cake, I covered it pink fondant and piped a swirl design with royal icing which I then painted gold. I also made fondant flowers for the top of the cake.

I was very pleased with how everything turned out. Thank you Libby for giving me the opportunity to create the sweets for your mom's party! I hope you all had a great time!

Anna's 40 & Fab Birthday!

First off, I know it's been a while since I have blogged and I apologize. This year has been so busy for me that this has been put on the back burner. I will write another post with what's been going on this year and I am committing myself to updating my blog from now on. (Well at least try :) )

So this post is about my sister-in-law's 40 and Fabulous Birthday that took place yesterday, 6/11/11. What a blast! First of all, Kim (her awesome partner) planned this whole event.

Anna & Kim

This was a much deserved birthday party for Anna. She is such a beautiful person inside and out. She does so much for others and let me tell you, she does not look 40. She's gorgeous! :)

Birthday Girl with her 40 & Fab Dessert Table
So my part in this event was creating a dessert table. I was very excited to do this, not only because of who it was for but the color scheme was awesome! Hot Pink (fuschia) and zebra print.

This was my inspiration for the dessert table!
First things first, the cupcake tower. I baked vanilla cupcakes topped with strawberry buttercream frosting and chocolate cupcakes topped with vanilla buttercream frosting. I wanted to keep the decorations simple so I made some fondant toppers  and topped all of them with pink disco dust. Love this stuff! I also made a mini square cake for the birthday girl and covered it in pink fondant and black and zebra print fondant circles. Loving the zebra print.

Custom cupcake tower

Next up, the goodies to fill the table. I made chocolated dipped fortune cookies with sprinkles, vanilla cake pops covered in pink sprinkles, chocolate covered oreos with pink martini glasses, sugar cookies topped with white chocolate and customized with the number 40 and an A, chocolate dipped pretzels, and gumballs. Everything just came together. The table was completed with custom soda bottles and water bottles with were made by Kim. The custom labels were cute!

I completed the dessert table with custom labels, custom table banner and table sign.

This was a great party and Kim did an awesome job putting it together. I was so honored to be a part of it. I love you Anna! Thank you for all that you do. :)

Trying to catch up....

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I haven't been blogging. It's been really hectic lately and trying to update all of these social networks is insane! I am going to try to commit to adding a post once a week. But please don't hold me to it. Having a 5 month old son, being a wife and baker, makes my life pretty unpredictable....LOL

So here it goes, last Friday 10/1/10, we (Frosted Heaven Cupcakery) had  our first event to sell cupcakes. It was the Eastvale Inaugural Celebration that was held at Eleanor Roosevelt HS. There was about 5,000-6,000 people in attendance. I didn't make too many cupcakes because I didn't know what to expect bring that there was going to be other food vendors there. We had 4 flavors: Red Velvet, Snickerdoodle, Banana Delight, and Chocolate Ganache. I had tremendous help from my husband, mom, grandma, sister & BF, sis-in-law, and nephew. We had a blast! I got to meet so many nice people that live in our community and really got my name out there. The event was a success! I hope that this is the start to many great things to come.

At the event, I had a raffle for a chance to win a prize of $250 in cupcakes or a cake. For every purchase, my customers received (1) raffle ticket to enter the drawing. The turnout was great! The winner of the raffle was Claudia B. It was exciting to call her. She was so surprised. She said she never wins anything. Claudia has until the end of the year to redeem her prize so when she does, I will make sure to post pics of what she selected.

So now that the event is behind us, I'm focusing on growing my business as much as possible. I'm also coordinating the Cupcake Camp Inland Empire event which is taking place on Sunday, November 7th at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, CA. I'm so excited for this event. Raising money for a great cause, meeting fellow bakers, eating cupcakes, what more can you ask for?

Well that's all I have for now. Take care and God Bless!
